So if you have been following my facebook you will see that I wanted a pair of Betseyville shoes and ended up making a similar pair for myself, while this is not the pair I made and I ended up using quite unsuitable materials this will give you a good idea of how to make them.
I would recommend you use cotton, I have used satin on this pair and it was awful! silk dupion would be ok too. Use shoes that have a fabric surface this will make the shoe easier to work with satin or cotton is good, any leather, PU or fake leather is quite difficult.
Step 1
Cut 2 strips of fabric 5.5cm wide and the length of the fabric you have choosen
Step 2
Fold and iron the edges over each side of the fabric, trim all loose threads
Step 3
Make small pleats in the fabric only pinning the top to the shoes
When finished the shoes should look like this
Step 4
Using a Glue Gun glue the fabric that has been folded underneath to the shoe, do this all the way around and then if shoes are like mine just fold the extra fabric in to the gap between heel and toe of the inside of the shoe and glue under.
If the shoes go all the way around the foot make at the end of the fabric trim and glue under.
Step 5
Glue the fabric folded under to the top of the shoe
Step 6
Put tiny dabs of glue in between the folds this is quite difficult but just go slow.
Step 7
cut a strip of fabric 10-12cm wide x 17cm long and then iron over both edges use a small line of glue to seal and hold fast
Step 8
Fold over the raw edges to the centre and glue them with a small line for each side.
Then use pins to gather, make a smaller strip about 10cm x 4cm and again iron over the raw edges then use the strip to wrap about the middle of the larger strip to make a bow.
Step 9
Glue bow on shoe, ta-da!
